What Are BCAAs (Branch Chain Amino Acids)?

BCAAs or branch chain aminos

Before I go into what exactly are BCAAs or Branch Chain Amino Acids, I need you to understand that amino acids are the building blocks of the human body. Without them, you simply will not grow or rebuild your body when you need to.

BCAAs or Branch Chain Amino Acids are the building blocks of life in a concentrated and easily digestible form. They usually come in a powder or syrup and have an added taste enhancer to make them quite delicious. They aid the body in rebuilding muscles, reducing the occurrence of injuries, and help with proper hydration by aiding in the ingestion of higher quantities of water per day.

Rebuilding muscle from Intense Workouts

When you work out there are minor tears the muscles you used. Those muscles if damaged enough will produce soreness or DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). To repair those muscles and stop further damage the body needs nutrition to repair itself.

That nutrition comes in the form of 20 different amino acids. Some of them produced by your body automatically, but others are needed through nutrition to be replenished frequently. If you take BCAAs every day, you can be confident that you’re getting all the essential amino acids needed to replenish your essential amino acids. Don’t take that the wrong way, you still need to eat even with BCAAs or Brand Chain Amino Acids on your plate.

Eating is the most important part of the fitness routine, but it’s sometimes difficult to eat properly all the time. That’s why most body-builders bring their meals with them at all times. If you’re spending a lot of time in restaurants or at an office where there is a large availability of unhealthy snacks, you can bet that you’re not getting all the amino acids you need.

Preparation Guidelines for the best nutrition

The first thing you need to realize is that you’re not going to be able to cook all your meals ahead of time. Getting solid nutrition is very difficult in America especially if you work a 9-5. You have to maintain a high level of discipline to stay the way you want to be.

Here are some of the best tips I’ve learned over the years…

First, look at the menu prior to visiting the restaurants. Most restaurants even fast food places have options that will coincide with your diet.

Second, don’t be afraid to ask your waiter or waitress to do a special order for you. There’s nothing wrong with asking for your salad to not have croutons on it. It will save you if you’re trying to not have too many carbs.

Third, enhance your water with BCAAs or Branch Chain Amino Acids. Most people lack proper hydration and that will put your weight loss or muscle gain to a screeching halt. If you keep your BCAAs in the car with you and a shaker handy, you can wash it out and put a little-powdered nutrition in there to keep you on point to making your nutritional goals.

Fourth, keep track of everything you eat, drink, and workout in a fitness app like My Fitness Pal or Cronometer. These apps are there for you to keep you on the plan and make sure you stay with it. Remember, if you can’t track your progress you’re just shooting in the dark.
